Question 1
1. Define, in your own words, the Bauhaus, De Stijl and Swiss Movements.
2. For each of these movements: find examples from their eras, as well as current designs that are influenced by these styles. Explain in your own words how these designs were inspired by the movements.

1.1. Bauhaus was a german college of design. The college was founded by Walter Gropius. The school existed 1919 and until it was closed by the nazis in 1933.

1.2. De Stijl was an art movement in the 1920s. The members of De Stijl wanted to express a new utopian ideal of spiritual harmony. The members of De Stijl was Piet Mondrian, The van Doesburg and Gerrit Rietveld. De Stijl influenced the painting, Bauhaus and the international style of architecture, fashion and interior design.

1.3 Swiss Movements is a soul jazz. Their live album was was recorded June 21, 1969 at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Awitzerland. The album was a hit.
